How we select and train host families
No majlis appears on Karam before we have checked its family. Here are the steps, and what the badges you see mean.
3 families have completed training so far
A family's journey before hosting you
- 1
Registration and verification
The family submits full details: address, map location, majlis details, capacity and languages, plus a photo of the house entrance for verification. The entrance photo stays with Karam for verification and is never shown to visitors.
- 2
Karam team review
The Karam team reviews the family and majlis details. No majlis is shown to visitors until the team approves it.
- 3
Qualification and training
The family completes a qualification course with Al-Uloom Technologies Training Center in Makkah. Completing it is required before any new family is activated.
- 4
Acknowledging the reception protocol
The family reads the reception protocol and confirms its commitment to it.
- 5
Approval and listing
Once approved, the family's majlis appears to visitors and can be booked.
- 6
Ongoing follow-up
We review guest ratings after visits to keep the experience consistent across families.
What does the training cover?

Welcoming guests, hospitality and the atmosphere of the gathering, with respect for prayer times and privacy.
Cultural awareness across nationalities
Understanding different customs and languages, and communicating well with guests from many countries.
What do the badges mean?
The Karam team has recorded the family as having completed the qualification course.
The Karam team approved the family and majlis details; its training has not been recorded yet.
Awarded automatically when guests' average rating is 4.5 or higher across at least 3 reviews, and its majlis appear first in browse results. It is never awarded by hand.
The qualification programme is just starting. Families who joined before it are being scheduled into training cohorts and receive the "Trained family" badge as soon as they complete it. We do not award the badge before then.
